Differences between mink and human muscles

Although a mink has very similar muscles as humans have, there are also many differences between the two. For one, a mink has a couple more muscles that humans do not have. Both are similar mostly because of the types of muscles that humans and minks have. Minks have the same major types of muscles as humans do such as the biceps and triceps in the arms. They also have the abdominal muscles that we do.

physiology class

tags: http://www.aquariumofthepacific.org/

So right now in class we have learned about bones, joints, and now we are learning about muscles. We learned the muscle song. I'm pretty excited about our upcoming field trip to the aquarium of the pacific which is going to happen around late january or early february. I think it would be a great opportunity to have fun while learning about anatomy as well as taking a break from the same 6 period schedule every single day. We haven't done many dissections lately but I think we're going to do some interesting ones soon such as the minks and the heart.

what I learned from the muscles song

lyrics to the song: http://www.songsforteaching.com/scienceinsong/muscularsystem.htm

Yesterday we sung the muscles song and even though it was weird I learned that there are over 600 muscles in our body.  The 3 major kinds of muscles are skeletal, smooth, and cardiac.  Muscles attach to bones in the body.  The masseter is in your cheek and it helps you smile and talk.  The trapezius helps you attach your head and your shoulders because it is in the back of your head.  The sternomastoid helps you rotate your head.  Biceps are your arm muscles, I remember this because popeye flexed his biceps.  Deltoids are the muscles that lift your arms.  lattisimus dorsi is the back and gastrocnemius is the calf muscle.  The cardiac muscle is the heart muscle it helps the heart beat.

bone health

I have learned many things about bone health. I know that bones grow stronger from childhood to adulthood but they start to detiriorate as we grow even older such as middle age. When we are younger, when our bones break, they heal faster and become stronger than they were before being broken. Many factors affect bone growth and its health. A major factor that can help bones grow is calcium. It helps bones get stronger so they are not as fragile when we get old.
